Proyecto IMPACT– Lighter protection systems for defense using 3D printing



Objective: IMPACT main aim is to design, develop, manufacture and validate reticular structures with auxetic properties, which have the peculiarity that to thicken when subjected to compression stresses. This property makes them of great interest when developing highly lightweight protections. In this sense, the project includes the analysis, design, manufacture of test tubes and validators in different commercial materials, and the specific development of a steel with ballistic quality, atomizable and processible using 3D printing technologies.
