ALIMES-PERSONALIZED EATING FOR HEALTHY AGING

ALIMES-PERSONALIZED EATING FOR HEALTHY AGING

Programme: Misiones Científicas de Asturias

Objective: The main objectives of this mission, organized in four axes, are:

AXIS 1. ASTURIAN SENIOR MICROBIOME

-Characterize the intestinal microbiome and generate a reference database.

- Develop sequencing technologies and methodologies

- Identify relationships between imbalances in the intestinal microbiota and pathologies / changes associated with aging.

- Select health targets that can be influenced by nutritional interventions to modulate the microbiota.

AXIS 2. TECHNOLOGIES

-Develop artificial intelligence algorithms that allow the treatment and exploitation of intestinal microbiome data.

-Design new kits that improve the sample collection process

-Design portable measurement devices

-Design and manufacture a 3D printer for the production of functional foods.

AXIS 3. FOOD FORMULATIONS

- Design strategies for nutritional interventions.

- Define and develop functional probiotic / prebiotic solutions with an impact on the identified biomarkers.

- Develop new foods to cover nutritional deficits and sensory requirements of the elderly.

AXIS 4. RELATIONSHIP WITH THE USER

- Develop a global platform for health monitoring and interaction with the elderly.

- Develop mechanisms and protocols to evaluate the impact of nutritional interventions on the well-being of the elderly.

- Define new business models associated with personalized food and active aging.

- Address the ethical, legal implications
